Given the dynamics of the cult-christian family I married into I can relate to Celie and Sophia in this movie. Different minutia of the time; different era...but the same oppressive slave owner constructs and practices with expectations of blind obedience from the wife! Had my baby-daddy not been beholden to the fears, insecurites, and approval of his mother but beholden to the virtues of his wife, he could have made a half-descent effort of securing an environment in which his children could thrive and prepare for their life's journey. I was never physically abused by my baby-daddy (probably because he knew I held a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do) but emotionally and psychologically abused I was (I did not realize it at the time... I was in the midst of it). Wise counsel from his family could have changed these dynamics (my baby-daddy was NOT unteachable...they failed him, me, and our sons!)
My baby-daddy was an adult child of an alcoholic (his dad…the first Singleton male victimized by the elizabich’s (his mom) narcissi. With this parent combination he became a narcopath (combination narcissist and sociopath). I feel sad for Reggie (the boy).

I Feel Alone as If I Have Been in the Twilight Zone Since 2001



It is so emotionally, psychologically, ‘cut-throat’ frustrating and exhausting to seem to be surrounded by a world of people who allows ‘the tail to wag them’! They cannot relate to my position to resist such-a-thing any more than I can relate to their motivation to allow such-a-thing! There is a war looming in my sons’ lineage. I DO NOT have the luxury of being ensconced in the passivity of allowing the ‘chips to fall where they may’ or letting the circumstances of my enemy’s choices ‘wag me’.

Any conscious and aware soldier engaged in warfare knows:

They can become a prisoner of war (the civilian equivalent of incarceration)

They will kill or be killed (the civilian equivalent of committing a crime or being the ‘victim’ of a crime)

OR those with the power and resources can come together and devise a diplomatic resolution, a Truce, an Armistice or some other peaceful resolution to a conflict (the civilian equivalent of Mediation)






I PRAY FOR THE LATTER BUT I AM ‘LOCKED-AND-LOADED’ FOR THE FORMER
